According to Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy website: Picture a 3.5-mile stretch of white beach with few tourists and no highrises. It's just you and the waves and the seabirds at Ocean Beach, on the westernmost border of San Francisco, adjacent to Golden Gate Park. Great for strolling and flying kites, but the water is frigid and the currents hazardous for all but the most experienced surfers.

ReplyDeleteDon't know where you live, but if you're on Pacific Coast Highway past the airport, first street after - you go to the left - you keep going (over some steep hills, passing Little Italy, till you run into the park (you see the towers in the distance)

If I remember correctly, there is quite a cliff there, right? I stopped for lunch at a place along the coast there once and was astonished at the beautiful (such a lame word!) view!

The ocean has a certain influence on me and my family. My father had sailed all through the war and seen many ships torpedoed and consequently lost many friends and colleagues. He sailed from the USA to Australia and England over the oceans.
