Iguanas look so interesting - their sharp claws are a bit scary so I wouldn't venture too close. I saw some while visiting Medellin Colombia and I watched them in the trees for quite a while.
A dear friend of mine had a pet iguana. He was quite tame and friendly. However the ones we saw in one of the Central American countries (sorry I don't remember which one. They were in the city square and it may have been in Chile) were enormous though lethargic and pretty harmless I think.
Yet I keep my distance...
